High speed mobile broadband is getting much closer. The Federal Communications Commission in America is poised to approve standards for a new WiFi spectrum. The British and French governments are also looking at releasing the same frequencies, which will be available free.
The enhanced connection range and speed are expected to support the rapid move to 'mobile web' activities, with websites available far more quickly and in far more places. Signals that are sent over the new frequencies will be able to travel further than WiFi and penetrate walls.
