What's the best money-saving idea you have used in your business? Using contract staff, outsourcing IT, going virtual, using VoIP, or something far more original!?
The thing that has saved me the most is understanding more about what money is and where it comes from.... hold on... knowing the difference between an asset and a liability for instance.
I was taught that an asset was something you owned and was worth something.
Familiar ?
But untrue.
An asset is something which generates cash, and a liability is one that you spend money on. I own my car with no hp or anything. But its a liability. So thats where it goes now in my understanding. Now I know where I stand on liabilities it also tells me how much income is required to not actually gradually go down the pan.
Does this help ? If old hat I apologise.

ps if hat is old, neither asset nor liability.
Hello Phil especially... saw another post about electricity usage and guess your firm is biggish..
There is simple way to cut swathes through the phone bill if your office rings a lot of mobiles...
I was thinking about it when we were selling our house... the agent was always calling my mobi... and bill can be cut by around 70 % if they do what we did... effectively adding a mobile phone into the switchboard..
