Electricity customers can claim £200 a day for 'poor' service

0

Electricity companies are to be charged from £10 to £200 a day for industrial customers being let down, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It is the first time homeowners and businesses trying to connect to the grid have been able to bill the electricity network operators for damages. Ofgem, which has introduced the scheme, said "poor" customer service levels had driven the changes. Last year, the watchdog fined EDF £2m for breaching a separate set of connection standards.

Payments range from £10 a day when companies fail to provide quotes on the cost of connecting a home within an agreed time frame to £200 a day for industrial customers being let down.
